Holy f’n crap. I think I just saw the single coolest thing ever.
You have to make the time to watch this right now! It will be taken offline at midnight on Sunday!
Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog
What do you get if you mix a musical, a rock opera, a sitcom, and a video blog? You get Dr. Horrible. And what do you get if you make it about the rise of an anti-hero/supervillain (and the thin line that separates the two), the struggles of good and evil within each of us, and get it written by Joss Whedon (quite possibly one of the greatest TV writers of our time), and acted by Neil Patrick Harris (who is a surprisingly amazing singer) and Nathan Fillion (who is always entertaining)? You get the single best bit of video I have ever seen in my life.
Go watch it now: http://www.drhorrible.com
Go. Now. Not kidding. Be late for work. Stay up late. Skip the workout. Just watch it.

Edit: Moved from front page to general news. Sorry folks, you missed the free videos. Lucky for you, I liked it so much I bought it in iTunes. If you want to see it some time, let me know and I’ll play it for you.

I knew it was bound to happen at some point. I guess in the back of my mind, I still held out hope that my Hackintosh was indestructible. Well, it’s not. And this weekend, it “got sick”. I can’t say it died, because I was able to bring it back, but in updating to the latest 10.5.4 OSX update, my graphics went glitchy. In attempting to fix that by loading new graphics drivers, I temporarily killed my Mac.

I’ve finished designing my new tattoo, but I’m calling out for your help! I can’t seem to decide on a colour scheme. I have a base set of colours in mind that go with the flow of the tattoo and the aura I’m trying to project from it, but can’t decide on a specific design.
Want to help?

OMG!!! A new post!!!
I know, it has been a while since I’ve posted. It’s hard to find the time to post when I don’t have a place to call “my own” and I’m constantly bouncing from one place to the next. Combine that with work, travelling, new tattoo designs (more on that in a bit), video art planning (more on that in a future post), house planning, and other random things, and it leaves me with no time left to write a decent article. In fact, I should be working right now, so let’s get right down to it shall we? The topic of today’s post? Tattoo designs I’m working on, and why I enjoy designing tattoo art.

I’ve created a new category on the site in order to post about Interaction Design (IxD) and other general design (DES) topics. Posts in this section will cover my personal ideas around creative thinking, user experience, accessibility, brainstorming/bodystorming, prototyping, and all other elements of design.

One of the things I’ve always struggled with in my mind is the bridge between the commercial viability of art and staying true to a work’s core ideas. Often, a work needs to be watered down or simplified for the sake of appealing to the masses. If an artist stays true to his or her vision of a work, it’s usually at the cost of commercial success. But what happens if an idea is easily adaptable to be used in a commercial way? Should the artist forego the commercial idea in order to preserve integrity, or should the artist pursue it at the risk of diluting the original artwork upon which it was built?

Hello all my wonderful amazing friends!
(yes I am sucking up)
Due to our recent move back to Ottawa, and our new house not being ready until December or January, we are in a bit of a quandary. We have been living with MC’s parents for about a week now, and it really isn’t working for us. The biggest issues are due to living in the middle of nowhere… between the gas and the parking, MC and I are wasting a lot of money (i.e. over $300 a month) that needs to be saved for the down payment on the house (not to mention MC losing almost 2 hours of her day traveling). On top of that, the internet connection here in Bourget is incredibly bad, so I’m unable to do some of my work (I need a fast connection for work, to do video conferencing daily). There are a number of other pressing issues that are making this a difficult experience for us.
So here it is; We need help. We really need to have a place to stay that is OC transpo and high-speed internet accessible. We can alternate between where we stay, so if you could put us up for one or two months, it would help us out tremendously. We would be happy to give you $300 each month, pay for the high-speed internet, and help out with cleaning and chores. All we need is a room for our bed and a place for my computer.
So… if you can help, please let us know!

This weekend we started packing for our move to Ottawa. We started with books, DVDs, and CDs. In order to reduce the stuff we have to pack (and subsequently keep in storage for 6 months), I decided to do some purging of old crap I didn’t need any longer. In the process of going through my computer CDs, I came across a backup disc from my PC days (i.e. from a LONG time ago). On MC’s insistence, I popped in the CD to see what was on it, and came across a little gem of a video.

This week I will discuss how I plan to integrate a series of Apple products to create a fairly low-cost whole-home audio solution. This will be a two part post, with part 2 to be written after moving in to our new house in December. This post will discuss the theorhetical and technical aspects of implementing the solution, while part 2 will be a hands-on step-by-step guide. So why the iHome? Read on.

Apparently, we’re famous in China! The song we wrote together, Your Everything, was linked to a couple of sites in China somehow, and recently got so many downloads they had to shut down the file.
So there you go folks… Butterfly7 made it big.
