I agree that the hardwood flooring does create a warm and inviting atmosphere. I really pushed for it as Andy originally felt we should chose a high grade laminate instead Since we had a 5K bonus to use at the Design Centre, the hardwood floors for the entire main level didn’t cost us one penny! So I think it paid off in the end and will pay dividends when we sell too As for the color selections, Andy did an amazing job, I agree!! I think you’ll be impressed even more when you see our modern designer style furniture too LOL.

Txs very much for the offer to help as well I think we’re pretty much covered but I’ll let you know if we do need extra hands! We are getting the keys this afternoon (it’s almost surreal too!) and Andy will be going over tonight and will have a busy couple of weeks ahead of him!! He will start painting either tomorrow or Wednesday. BTW, I think the red in the kitchen will really pop as well against our black appliances, white cupboards and grey countertops. He will also be installing the hardwood in our master bedroom/walk-in closet and hopefully finish the basement too with his dad’s help. I’m not sure if he’ll think of it as a labour of love, but once everything is done, we will have a beautiful cozy home

Oh and the niche or “little lighted nook” as you called it was the other upgrade I fought for so I was glad to see you comment on this as well

I will be off work from Dec. 22nd to Jan. 2nd (can’t wait either!) so will have loads of time to plan a nice party I will be in touch this week to coordinate dates for get togethers!

Yes, we must do another lunch and also a weekend get together during the Fa La La Season. Since we are having our family Christmas on the 20th of Dec. (my brother and sister-in-law work on Christmas / Boxing Day) chez nous and Christmas at Alfredo’s parent’s house on the 25th, we are going to be free during the holidays. I booked off from 29 Dec. to 02 Jan. so let us know!

It was pretty amazing to drive into our own driveway and walk-in to our new house, legitimally LOL. The pre-delivery inspection went very well overall. The deficiencies at this point are all minor (fix a few scratches in the hardwood, align cabinets, clean paint stains off the carpet and hardware, fix vibrations in a few windows, overall clean-up). Our site supervisor was very thorough and we really felt he was on our side. Not surprising considering how fantastic Tartan’s customer services has been to date!

We are closing ON-TIME next Monday (Dec. 8th). Andy will be there as soon as we get the keys. He will start painting right away (main entrance, kitchen backsplash, 1 wall in the ensuite bathroom, 1 wall in the master bedroom) and install the hardwood in the master/walk-in closet. We plan on moving in our furniture by the end of next week and Angel will check-out her new pad once we’ve settled in. I have to admit that I am a wee bit jealous that Andy will sleep in the house first and even sleep on our new mattress first too My first sleep will likely be on the 12th

I look forward to reading your reaction when you see the pics. I personally think they don’t do the house justice…It is really is beautiful We can’t wait to have everyone over, hopefully during the Christmas break

GnR is likely to be aired on The Bear. It’s definitely not “alt” enough to be on Live. If you want to hear samples, just use your Mac and go to the iTunes music store. You can hear 30 second clips of all the songs (and you can do this for just about any album in existence). Yes, many bands are making that comeback. Far too many to name… you missed Motley Crue, Blind Melon, Smashing Pumpkins, Puddle of Mudd, Counting Crows, Death Cab for Cutie… the list goes on.

Thank you for posting this. I feel guilty because I listen to Live 88.5 and I have to admit that I had no idea that GnR or more aptly, Axl Rose was releasing this new musical effort. I figure Live would have had some info on it, but maybe I was not tuned in at that particular time. Perhaps Chez 106 or The Bear would be a better source - I just seldom find the time these days to dial way over to the right side of that radio tuner. Now I will have to Google this latest effort (hoping to find some samples somewhere….).

It is really interesting to see how many hard rock bands from the 80s and 90s are making a come back now. ACDC, Metallica and now GnR (sort of) are bringing themselves out of the vaults and getting their newest musical pursuits heard again. It is nice considering that the more things change, the older I feel!!! I still cannot get myself to buy anything from Brittany Spears or Back Street Boys. I…..just……can’t. I…….will…….not…….assimilate…..
