Thanks Again!

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

Hi Gang,

I wanted to acknowledge the great Friday evening at Anne and Dave’s last week.

Anne, Dave – thank you so very much for your wonderful hospitality and the amazing meal. It always makes me feel so good when we get together – some good soul food! It’s too bad that Oneuma and Colin were not able to make it, but with her sister getting married, it would have been too hectic a pace for them, I’m sure. We’ll have to catch up with them next time for sure.

It was so nice to see Ralphie looking and feeling great. What a relief that he is finally all better. What a sweet Monkey Boy!  I can’t wait until the puppies meet Calvin!  :)   If anyone has any particular ideas about how to go about our puppy play date, please let me know. I’ll be thinking of locations…..I think it would be great to see them play in some open space.

Andy, Dave – Thanks so much for giving us the screening of Real and the in-production To The Rescue video on Friday. We felt very privileged to be the first ones to see both works, outside of those who have been involved in the productions, of course. We are so proud of you both and we were very impressed with how you pulled together both productions.  There were particular elements to Real that really touched us and we’re sure that it will have the same effect on others who see it. We are really looking forward to seeing the final cut of the music video as well. Bravo boys! Keep going! You’re going places !!!

As usual, we’ll keep you posted on the wedding planning developments…More to follow…

And remember, it’s “A and T”……not “T & A”…  ;P  LOL!!! I’m still laughing at that one…….. Thanks for all of the laughs guys!

Love Tina  :)

Thank you so much Andy and MC!

Alfredo and I really enjoyed our evening with you both on Saturday! With such yummy Mexican cuisine, I know we both had very satisfied puppy tummies!  :) We really enjoyed those great pockets that you guys made – sorry – I can’t remember the name of them, but we certainly recall that they were very tasty!

Thank you so much for the beautiful card and gift – I’ll really need it when it comes down to the hectic pace that will be set as we plan our wedding.  (BTW – MC – you have such beautiful penmanship! I had to do a double take as I thought your writing was print from the actual card!) Now that we have a date, we are working towards getting everything into place this year so that we have an easy ride up to the wedding date. It starts with Alfredo going to the church this week to put down the deposit. And then, the planning will take on a life of its own from there….Lucky for me, I have a man who is totally involved and eagerly (and equally) engaged in the process…this will really help my stress levels…

And I really want to thank you for the wonderful gift of music for my iPod (iPup)! We really have the same taste in music! I love those tunes! I was very happy to discover that I now have Fall Out Boy, Billy Talent, Half Past Forever, The Stills, City and Colour, Death Cab For Cutie and so much more that I am just getting acquainted with – I love discovering new music! Thank you so much!

It was so funny having that trip down memory lane and listening to you and Alfredo talk about all of the WWF / WWE / WCW / etc… wrestlers that you both used to watch. I still chuckle a bit when I recall that clip that you showed us from Wrestlemania (25?) with Buddy taking that dive and that “FLWAP!” sound. Sorry Andy, I almost peed myself just because of the sound effect. I don’t normally laugh at other people’s misfortune, but I could not believe that Buddy was so brazen…Please forgive me and my “wicked” sense of humour…it just struck me so funny and cartoonish….

I must say that now that we have seen Bubba Ho-Tep, I will never think of Elvis in the same way again…some very memorable lines in that movie…Who would have thought that a movie could have Elvis and a mummy in the same storyline…  ;P  Long live Bruce Campbell…..the King of quirky B-grade movies! :)

Anyways, have a great one guys and we’ll see you again soon!

Love Tina and Alfredo  :)

From the Tina / Alfredo Camp…

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

Well folks, by now, most of you know that Alfredo, for the longest time, was talking about how he was going to make me his wife (practically from the beginning of our relationship)  :) and planning to pop the question to me. So it is no real surprise to anyone that he proposed to me in February and that I gladly accepted!  And I must say that every time that I look at my left hand, I get all warm and fuzzy over the concept of being Mrs. Alfredo.  And well, it is certainly hard to miss this beautiful new bling that he has bestowed upon me. :) I just love my ring!  So I could not wait until our ladies night last night to show it to you and to fill you in on the details of what is to come. And thank you so much again for the beautiful cards and for being so very happy and excited in celebration of my and Alfredo’s engagement. We will be starting the actual planning in April because we just wanted to enjoy the engagement for a bit before we start the frenzied process of all of the planning – and believe me, with a large wedding, we will need all of the time that we can get! So I will keep you all posted as things develop!

A big huge thank you to you – Andy and MC – for hosting this wonderful evening and for the fantastic food. And also thank yous go out to you – Oneuma and Anne – for your very yummy dishes. Our potluck meal brought together a really nice fusion of ethnic and traditional cuisine. And even though this was sanctioned as ladies night, thank you for extending the invite to Alfredo as well – he obviously really enjoyed himself as well. I don’t know about you guys, but I really liked the shift from doing the restaurant thing to having a night in chez one of us with fabulous food that each of us prepared.  The setting allowed us to be in a nice and cozy environment, free from the buzz of a busy restaurant. It allowed us to engage in our conversation, uninterrupted, and everyone got to hear what was going on. It was so good to find out how everyone is doing and what was new. And, of course, Angel was ever the gracious hostess as usual too, bestowing her cuteness and attention to everyone.  :).

What’s new on the home front? Little by little, after opening my account with the Home Depot, I am starting to buy all of the things that we need to make renovations to my home. We started with painting rooms last year and now it has moved to the purchase of new doors and knobs. Last year, I bought new light fixtures for all of the bathrooms so Alfredo will be replacing them this Spring – he has already started with putting in the new dining room light fixture. We are now pricing out crown molding and baseboards and are also looking at patio stones as the back yard will be completely redone this Spring / Summer. I have a list of other things that we are going to do so it will take some time to get everything done, but we are really excited about these changes as we want to personalize our home – as a couple. And we are also preparing for that time when we will be ready to buy our next home together, so all in all, we are very excited about this process.

When things calm down a bit, we will be having you all chez nous again to meet our little Calvin man as I know, from last night’s conversation, you are all anxious to meet our sweet fella. And we could also plan to finally go for our doggie date once all of this mud and snow is a memory of yesterday. Anne – we really hope that Ralphie makes some good progress in his health and that he finally gets some relief from all of his symptoms. Keep us posted. We are keeping him in our thoughts and prayers.

Thank you all again for sharing your experiences regarding the planning of your weddings and for giving us some helpful suggestions. We are really excited about getting the ball rolling and look forward to embracing the whole experience ourselves. I am also very lucky that I have a fiance who is as excited, engaged and interested in the process as I am. We both waited a long time to meet “the one” to make this commitment to and after 3 years of being together (this June), we are very happy about and committed to taking our relationship to the next level. Alfredo is actually looking forward to taking the pre-marriage course (as we are both Catholics) and I’m sure it will provide some interesting insight for us and from what my friends say (who have taken the course), they enjoyed this part of the pre-marriage preparation as well.

Anyhow, I guess that’s it from the Tina-Alfredo camp for now. More to follow in the coming weeks, months…..

In the meantime, keep safe, stay healthy and we look forward to your updates as well!

Love Tina  :)

Introducing Calvin! Keisha’s New Boyfriend!!!

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Well Folks,

It’s been a week and our little boy Calvin is settling into his new digs with Momma and Poppa and his female pack leader…Little Miss Keisha since we brought him home on Saturday January 10th. Alfredo and I had met him on Boxing Day and, after some time, much thought and consideration, we decided to take the plunge. It also helped that we fell in love with this pooch during that first meeting. The deal maker was when we did the introduction with Keisha (on Jan 10th) and she accepted him as her pack follower…after all, she is the CDS (Chief of Dog Staff) at home.  ;P So it is my great pleasure to introduce to you… Captain Calvin and BGen (that’s Boston General!) Keisha!

In case you are wondering, he is an Alapaha Blue Blood Bull Dog (we think he is quite handsome!) and a real Snugglepuss! He is very affectionate and loves to be around his people. He is totally submissive to Keisha – which is what we wanted in a male companion for her. He is also very smart and catches on quickly to new commands. He does have a bit of separation anxiety, but we are working on that issue. We hope that, as the weather gets warmer (at least maintained at minus 10 and above), we can get our boy outside to run off some of his energy as he is quite the playful pup! He loves the piles of chew toys that we have in our home and is quite content to lay at our feet when we are watching T.V. or on the net.

He does have a bit of an allergy problem which causes him to break out on his inner ears (poor baby), but we are addressing that problem and hope that we can provide him with some relief soon when we have found the cause. All in all, we is such a sweetheart and Fred and I are very fond of our new puppy kid! And with that, here are more pictures of our darling doggies…

Calvin kisses Keisha….

Poppa is preparing to deliver their cheesy treat….

And the pups are just enjoying their sun spot…and of course, Calvin is a gentleman and gives Keisha the prime spot…in HIS house…

All in all, so far so good. We were not sure at first how it would go as it is always an adjustment having a new member join the family and you never know how your resident dog is going to accept a new pack member. But Keisha and Calvin are making it work and are getting used to one another.   Only time will tell how their relationship will blossom…

Love Tina  :)

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

Andy and MC,

Congratulations to you!!! I bet it feels pretty good to finally be able to see what you have been waiting for all of these months! When is your “first sleep” in your new home? Has Angel Pie seen her new pad yet? I know when you drove Alfredo and me past the outside of your place, we were pretty impressed so we are anxious to see pictures of the rest of it.

I Found New Music That I Absolutely Love!

Monday, August 11th, 2008

Hello Folks,

I thought that I would post about a few really good bands that I discovered while surfing on the net. It all started when I googled The Crow Soundtrack. You see, I have always really liked the song “Burn” from The Cure. I have always been a fan of dark movies and themes with a fascination in things “goth.” But don’t get me wrong, I don’t like “elements” of the goth culture that you see on the streets nor do I like the various subcultures perpetuated by popular media that define themselves with their own sensational spin-off themes like S&M, Deathrock (you know, the kind with lyrics of teen suicide), satanic worship, mutilation, etc.

What I do like and what kind of goth am I talking about? Think the style of dress from the Renaissance and Victoria era, not so much the punk and deathrock stream. Think medieval romances, gothic revival architecture and yes, even the horror genre with ghosts, vampires, graveyards and old country castles.

What surprised me, however, was when I started looking up “Goth Rock” bands, I came up with some surprisingly mellow and very emotionally charged music. So lately, I’ve been expanding my repertoire of music reflecting that taste. Once I got “Burn” from The Cure on my Youtube playlist, on a list of related videos, I came across these great songs from a Finnish Band called Entwine. Well, 4 hours later of exploring, I discovered this great band along with others that fall under the “Goth Rock” label including Lacuna Coil and H.I.M.. And now a lot of their music makes up my very best list for songs from the late 90s to now. So I am including links to the songs that I like most. These songs move me. They make me feel something. Not a lot of bands do that for me anymore.

If you are interested, check out the links. Regrettably, not all of them have a video per se, but some do include the lyrics which is nice…

Here is a list of songs from the band Entwine…

Entwine

And 2 from Lacuna Coil

And 2 from H.I.M.

If you went to these links, I would really like to know what you think.

Yay!!! We are going to see Sarah Brightman!!!

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Hello Folks,

I’ll have to thank Oneuma for letting me know that Sarah Brightman will be in Ottawa at the Bank on Friday, November 28th – Thank you so much Oneuma! As I have had the priviledge of seeing her 3 times already, Alfredo and I were just waiting to see when she would be on tour again. And lucky for us, she is coming back to Ottawa and we were able to get some decent tickets for her November visit.  I am so excited as I have always been blown away with her amazing concerts – the music, the theatrical mood and feel of her show, her incredible voice, the beautiful stage and backdrops and the dancers she tours with all make for a very impressive, dazzling and exotically romantic evening.

I have to tell you that the first dinner date that I had over at Alfredo’s, he prepared me a huge feast which we indulged in with Sarah Brightman music playing in the background. And after our 2 hour dinner, Alfredo, Keisha and I watched her La Luna concert on DVD (after watching a horror movie we both very much enjoyed). And I’ll always remember that evening because it was very romantic and exciting because Alfredo and I were just getting to know one another and it was nice to discover that Alfredo likes Sarah Brightman’s music and style as I do.

I’ll have to say that the last time I dropped this amount of cash down to see a show was for Coldplay back in 2006 (which was a huge success and money well spent). But since owning a house, I really don’t spend a lot on going out to shows – and I really have to pick and choose were my money is spent. But we both agreed that this is very much worth the price of admission and too important to miss as it will be yet another special memory to go down in our history book.

I can’t wait! I have butterflies in my stomach! Now we have something to look forward to in the Winter!

Tina
