I’m a published artist

With my recent job loss, I’ve had a little more time on my hands, so I thought it was about time I update this site a little more. Now, before you all freak out (if you hadn’t heard about my job situation yet), there’s no reason to panic… The company simply could not afford to pay me a full salary with benefits. I am still working for them on contract, and may have other contract work on the way shortly. I’m fine.

But enough about that, and onto my post. As of last month, I am officially a published artist, passing yet another milestone in my career.

The illustration work I created for author Francois Kibwenge El-Esu has been printed and is now in distribution in book stores all over. The author was kind enough to send me a personalized copy of the book, with a written note thanking me for the design. I also have my name printed in the foreward of the book. It is a great feeling to see my work out there in the world.

I have acheived a lot in the past two years. I have had my first gallery show (Ann Homan Art Gallery), my first group exhibit (Nuit Blanche 2007), my first creative job (Interaction Artist), and now my first published illustration.

So what’s next for A7?

I’m glad you decided to post about the publication of the book :) I will add that the author received multiple compliments on the book cover Andy designed, from all over the world at that! His thank you note was filled with appreciation and really genuine in nature!

On a side note, hun: You should add this to the Arts Section of your CV. It adds another skill to your already awesome and diverse resume and shows your versatility as an artist ;)

This work is already part of my CV, under the “Print” section. I realize illustration is a little more “arts” than “print”, but if I made a section under arts for illustration, this would be the only item (which would look lame).

When do I get to see the CV? is it almost done?

  5. A7A7 Says:

Yes, the CV is almost done. almost all my videos were uploaded yesterday. I’m just putting together the final touches and linking all the videos on the CV. You can see it by visiting http://cv.iMakeArt.net .

I realize it’s already part of the Print Section, but not everyone might go through your entire CV, so it could go unnoticed! I think you should add it to the Arts Career Section of the CV, as your most recent work because like you said in your post, it is a milestone in your career :)

    Just a suggestion though ;)

    Hey Andy,

that is awesome! Way to go. As for as accomplishments go I am sure you have not even touched the tip of the iceberg. Keep it up! :) Take care and have a great day,
