I Found New Music That I Absolutely Love!
Hello Folks,
I thought that I would post about a few really good bands that I discovered while surfing on the net. It all started when I googled The Crow Soundtrack. You see, I have always really liked the song “Burn” from The Cure. I have always been a fan of dark movies and themes with a fascination in things “goth.” But don’t get me wrong, I don’t like “elements” of the goth culture that you see on the streets nor do I like the various subcultures perpetuated by popular media that define themselves with their own sensational spin-off themes like S&M, Deathrock (you know, the kind with lyrics of teen suicide), satanic worship, mutilation, etc.
What I do like and what kind of goth am I talking about? Think the style of dress from the Renaissance and Victoria era, not so much the punk and deathrock stream. Think medieval romances, gothic revival architecture and yes, even the horror genre with ghosts, vampires, graveyards and old country castles.
What surprised me, however, was when I started looking up “Goth Rock” bands, I came up with some surprisingly mellow and very emotionally charged music. So lately, I’ve been expanding my repertoire of music reflecting that taste. Once I got “Burn” from The Cure on my Youtube playlist, on a list of related videos, I came across these great songs from a Finnish Band called Entwine. Well, 4 hours later of exploring, I discovered this great band along with others that fall under the “Goth Rock” label including Lacuna Coil and H.I.M.. And now a lot of their music makes up my very best list for songs from the late 90s to now. So I am including links to the songs that I like most. These songs move me. They make me feel something. Not a lot of bands do that for me anymore.
If you are interested, check out the links. Regrettably, not all of them have a video per se, but some do include the lyrics which is nice…
Here is a list of songs from the band Entwine…
Entwine
- Learn to Let Go
- Closer (My Love)
- Lost Within
- Time Of Despair
- Nothing Left To Say
- Nothing’s Forever
- Frozen By the Sun
- Hearts of Frozen Stone
And 2 from Lacuna Coil
And 2 from H.I.M.
If you went to these links, I would really like to know what you think.

Hey Tina! Long time no see!
Thanks for another great post. I had not heard of Entwine, but I have heard Lacuna Coil and HIM. Both great bands. Entwine is most definitely very “Cure”-like, so I can see how you would like them.
Your post also brings up an interesting comment on how we now search for information. Perhaps you have heard the term “cloud computing”, a recent buzzword that is garnering a lot of attention in the IT world. Your search is a perfect example of cloud computing. No longer do we end up only searching for single items; instead, we link from idea to idea, much like in a conversation. Cloud computing groups “ideas” or similar items together so we can seamlessly find similar items in a more logical manner. Youtube is the first major success of cloud computing, as is evidenced by your very post, but it is a concept that is being used in a number of applications. This very site, for example, has cloud computing technology built in. You will notice just above this comment there are “tags” associated to your post. By clicking on the tags, you can bring up other posts with similar topics. It is interesting to see the internet evolve into a more fluid experience. There will surely be more applications of this nature popping up soon.
In any case, kudos on finding some great music. If you like those artists, might I suggest you look at Neverending White Lights (Canadian), and Apocalyptica.

Hi Andy,
Thanks for your reply. I have been really into finding new bands to listen to. I have to admit that Live 88.5 has lead me to some great bands too. I always listen to The Ongoing History of New Music with Allan Cross on the weekends and The Cafe on Saturday and Sunday. Live plays some lesser known talents, but good stuff like Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker (Hollow Point Snyper Hyperbole), Travis (Side), She Wants Revenge (These Things), Thom Yorke (Black Swan), City and Colour (Casey’s Song), and yes Neverending White Lights (The Grace), etc… I will have to google Apocalyptica - thanks for the suggestion.
I have actually never heard the term cloud computing, but Alfredo has. Whatever it is, it is a great linking mechanism! Thanks for the backgrounder.
You know, when I think a little further about it, I have the internet to thank for so many things or my life would not be what it is today. It has influenced so much in my life. Hey, here is a thought —– Without the internet, my life would be completely different in every way. I say this because it is the source that I used to find my home, to create and post my profile on social networks which lead the man of my dreams to me and I use it daily to help in so many other aspects of my life - health, home, leisure activities, music, etc….In fact, without it, I wouldn’t be here posting because we would have never met otherwise…
Holy Crap! What would my life be like right now if the Internet was never invented????? I don’t even want to go there…
