A7 on the drums! (video)
This week I decided to film myself playing the drums in Rock Band. I’ve never had so much fun learning to play an instrument before. This video shows me playing three songs on expert, and getting over 95% on them. The three songs in this video are CrushCrushCrush by Paramore, Joker and the Thief by Wolfmother, and Enter Sandman by Metallica (three KILLER songs by the way). I was quite surprised at how fast my hands move and how coordinated I am. 
Once you get to the expert level, you really are playing the drums. And to test my theory, I headed down to Steve’s Music today and sat in front of an electronic drum kit for 20 mintues. I really can play the drums now! Awesome!
So what’s next? I’m getting the drum kit I was playing on as soon as we move into our new house. I’ve been waiting over 5 years to play the drums… now that I know I can actually play, I’m taking the plunge. The electronic kit I was looking at is not only insanely cool, it is fairly compact and allows me to play silently (on headphones). And who knows… maybe my time playing Rock Band will actually turn into playing IN a rock band.

Wow! That does take amazing coordination! I always admired drummers for their ability to multitask like that. I was just trying to follow your moves and I couldn’t do it! Great job Andy! Once you feel that you have mastered the drums, you could be your own 1 man band! Honestly! Moby does it! Awesome! Keep going!

Hey Tina. Thanks for the comments. It does take a great deal of coordination, and seeing my hands go is only half of it! The hardest part is coordinating the foot (bass drum) with the arms. There’s still a few songs in the list that I just cannot finish on expert, but I’m getting there.

Justin is going to want to steal your drum kit when you buy it, just so you know. You may wanna lock it up or something hahah..
